Can AI reach and read it?
Secure connection (HTTPS)
Serve the whole site over HTTPS and redirect http:// to it.
Readable without JavaScript
Put your key text in the HTML itself. Many AI crawlers do not run JavaScript, so a page built only in the browser looks empty to them.
AI crawlers allowed
Allow OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot, Googlebot and Bingbot in robots.txt. Blocking training crawlers is your choice; blocking search crawlers keeps you out of answers.
Indexable
Remove noindex from the meta robots tag or the X-Robots-Tag header on pages you want found.
Does AI know who you are?
Company data for machines
Add Organization or LocalBusiness structured data in JSON-LD: name, URL, logo, address, phone.
Linked profiles
List your LinkedIn, Google Business Profile and other official profiles in sameAs, so engines can connect them to you.
Title and description
Write a title of 30–65 characters and a description of 70–170 characters that say what you do and for whom.
Contact details
Show a phone number or email address in the HTML, not only inside an image or a form.
One clear main heading
Use exactly one H1 that names what you offer.
Canonical and sharing tags
Add a canonical link and og:title / og:description, so every engine sees one clean version of the page.
Can AI use it as an answer?
Answers to real questions
Add the questions buyers ask as headings, each with a short, direct answer, or mark up an FAQ.
Languages marked up
If you serve more than one language or market, link the versions with hreflang. One language: make sure the lang attribute is right.
Sitemap
Publish sitemap.xml and name it in robots.txt.
Recently updated
Keep key pages current and expose the date: dateModified in structured data or lastmod in the sitemap.
llms.txt
Optional and small: add /llms.txt with a short description of who you are and links to your key pages.
Next: are you actually named?
A ready site is the entry ticket. The audit asks 30 of your buyers’ questions in five engines and shows who gets named instead of you.
